BryTech Solutions initially performed a review of the Phase 1 Desalination Plant facility, raising a number of defects for rectification by the EPC Contractor, and also suggested ways in which the severe biofouling problems could be mitigated. The source seawater for the plant is supplied from a virtual dead end, in a highly industrialised area, and causes severe biofouling of the RO membranes. Over a number of subsequent visits, spanning several years, BryTech Solutions developped a solution to provide a robust pre-treatment system for both the Phase 1 plant and the Phase 2 plant (based on Dissolved Air Flotation and Biological Filtration) to address the biofouling problems, and assisted Emirates Steel in tendering this solution on the open market.
